Through experience, we recommend working collaboratively with trade union colleagues, to achieve swifter and smoother resolutions to problems. We acknowledge that relations between school leaders and unions are not always easy and we work hard to maintain our relationships with union colleagues, to ensure that we are able to liaise with them on your behalf where appropriate.

In the academy sector, Natalie has recently established a forum for engagement and consultation between academies in Cumbria and unions which she chairs. This forum meets half termly to discuss sector wide developments and issues  impacting on academies. The forum has agreed the wording of a recognition agreement and strives to ensure that all Cumbrian academies have the opportunity to meet their legal obligations as employers to engage and consult on matters affecting staff.
